The mandate of the Trade, Industry, Finance and Investment (TIFI) Directorate is to coordinate regional trade and financial liberalization; to facilitate competitive, diversified industrial development; increased investment and the integration of the SADC economy into the global economy; and to foster regional integration through the SADC Free Trade Area, the creation of the Customs Union, Common Market and the Monetary Union. The aim is to contribute to the SADC ultimate objective of poverty eradication in the region.
TIFI undertakes its mandate through designated Units, which include: Trade; Customs; Macroeconomic Policies and Convergence; Finance and Investment; Standards, Quality Assurance and Metrology; and Industry Productive Competitiveness.
