Namibia Commemorates 2012 World Malaria Day
OSHAKATI, NAMIBIA, 25 APRIL 2012: The 2012 World Malaria Day Events in the SADC-SARN region were held in the town of Oshakati in Oshana region of Nambia. Oshakati is a northern cross-border town in the Trans-Kunene Cross-border Initiative between Angola and Namibia. The WHO Director General (DG), Dr Margret Chan and the Namibia Minister of Health Dr Richard Kamwi who is also the chairperson of the Malaria Elimination Eight (E8) countries and a Roll Back Malaria (RBM) Board Member launched three important documents for the Namibia National Malaria Control Program (NMCP): a. The Malaria Elimination Strategic Plan, b. the Malaria Monitoring and. Evaluation Plan (M/E plan) and c. the 2009 Malaria Indicator Survey (MIS).
